5 Easy Tips to Taking a Better Picture
It’s no secret that most people get nervous when having their picture taken. Here are a few tricks that will make your photos look more like the pros.
1. Don’t have the person stand alone in the photo. Have something for the person in the picture to do, like leaning against a tree. It will take the focus off of the person and make them more comfortable which gives you a better shot of them.
2. Tilt the person’s shoulders slightly away from the camera with the head towards the camera. This will reveal a better profile. This goes for the knees as well. Believe it or not, having the person’s knee’s pointing to the side will give them a more complimentary profile.
3. The dreaded double chin syndrome can be avoided if you take the picture from a higher position and have the person look up at you or you can have the person lean forward slightly. This can save you lots of embarrassment.
4. When taking a group shot, you want to have as little space as possible between people’s faces. This is why you always see the pro’s moving people all the time when lining up a photo. They are trying to eliminate space. It make the picture more balanced and places the right amount of emphasis on each person.
5. Pay close attention to body language. Keep arms and hands close to the body. Having the arms or legs away from the body expresses a different type of body language, usually aggressive or unhappy (like hands on hips). Stay away from that unless it is what you’re going for.
I hope you found these useful. With a little practice you are well on your way to taking better photos of people. I wish you the best of luck!

Choosing a gift for mother is not an easy task but shopping for the gifts will be a refreshing enjoyment for the children. You may consider purchasing the gifts for your mother is a very tough job but in reality it is not so. Your mother hardly wants anything from you and she is not hard to please. So whatever you will buy for them will be embraced with good grace and glittering tears in their eyes. Still you prefer to cultivate new ideas to buy a new range of gifts for her as you will hate her cupboard getting filled up with the boring items every year. You can tuck all your inventive ideas into the mum photo frames to present her on any special occasion.
There must be many a photo of your childhood days. You may have noticed your mum’s presences in majority of them. As the days roll by, the photos without any special care tend to get distorted. The dust built up on them and moisture in the air lessens their freshness. They loose all their appeal and after a certain period it is hardly possible to indentify the persons in the photos. That is why preserving them is vital to keep them in a good shape to withstand the natural process of erosion over time. Therefore, the mum photo frames serve a very useful purpose.
You can use your inventive mind to lend an innovative touch to the mum photo frames. Personalized items touch the hearts of the recipients more than anything. You can get your mother’s name engraved on the frame or set a photo of your mother in the frame. Considering the umpteen number of photos, it will be better for you to buy an array of mum photo frames of diversified shapes and sizes. You can personally set some of the most memorable photos into these frames and give her a surprise present. A myriad of mum photo frames will make her eyes roll in astonishment whereas unwrapping the same sort of frames will make her amazement evaporate away with no time.
Choose the frames keeping in mind the colors of the walls and set them in the proper place so they can be the perfect decorative objects to add a refined touch to the whole ambience. Remember that they should be set in such a place where there is enough light otherwise the photos will appear black and spoil the whole theme of decoration. Just like the mum photo frames, granddad photo frames can also make the great gifts for the elderly persons. In case of framing very old photos of your granddad, choose the frames oozing out the elegant simplicity whereas merge the contemporary feel with the traditional ideas in times of purchasing the mum photo frames.
Albert Hennessey has recently bought photo frames He has vast knowledge on granddad photo frames and recommends you to visit http://www.photo-frames.co.uk/ for more information.
It took me a long time to first delve into the creation of funny pictures. Almost fifteen years into my career, to be exact. A big part of that evolution was the advent of the digital world and Photoshop. As a matter of fact, Photoshop came along at a perfect time for me and opened up a whole new world.
It was early 1990 and my business had hit the wall. It was like someone turned off the faucet. 1989 was, at that point, the best year I had ever had. I could barely keep up with the assignments! But our economy took a dive and my business went along with it. One of my clients went from a staff of 24 to only five people in a six-month span of time.
Who was going to hire me, and why?
With all that time on my hands I took a hard look at my business. Who was going to hire me and why? My answer was that not too many would hire me. My book wasn’t even interesting to me. But one thing did interest me, combining images. I began to combine images using in-camera duping.
The difficulties of that process got me looking at this new development in the pre-press world, digital compositing. When I checked into that, the proprietary systems were prohibitively expensive. And then came this new program called Photoshop.
I didn’t have any money, but I traded some stock photos to Adobe for a copy of their new program, and used my income tax money to pay for an apple computer. The rest, as they say, was history.
Pics of flying pigs and heads buried in the sand
It wasn’t long before humor began to creep into my Photoshop work. A funny picture of flying pigs came within months of my starting to work with Photoshop. Shortly after that came a fun image of raining cats and dogs.
The humor showed up not just in funny animal pictures, but also in humorous people pictures as well. In one such shot I created an image of myself, times three, and in each case, with my head buried in the sand and my butt in the air (what was I thinking?).
Eventually I created a stock image of a cat with a huge grin and a canary feather protruding from his mouth. That fun little picture got me a contract with a greeting card company and my own line of greeting cards “John Lund’s Animal Antics”. Soon we were selling over a million greeting cards a year!
At first I was uncomfortable getting complements on the funny animal pictures. I wanted to be known for serious work. But it began to dawn on me that people were truly appreciating what I was doing. I get e-mails from all over the world from people thanking me for bringing humor into their lives.
A week after 9/11 happened a United Airlines flight attendant sent me a letter thanking me for giving her fist smile since the twin towers tragedy.
Appreciation on a weekly basis
After twenty years of photography I don’t ever remember anybody thanking me for creating images…and here I am suddenly getting appreciation on a weekly basis. How bad can that be? Now, of course, I have come to terms with it. As a matter of fact, few things make me feel as good as seeing a smile spread across someone’s face when they first look at one of my images. As a matter of fact, when someone chuckles at one of my images I know I have a winner.
Even today, I created a funny image and sent e-mail the image to my brother while I had him on the phone. When I heard him laugh I knew the image was successful.
It took me fifteen years of shooting before I found my stride, a combination of photography, Photoshop and humor. I create funny images of pets, funny photographs of business concepts, and, yes, the occasional serious shot too. And I’m laughing all the way to the bank!

Nude photography is one of the areas of photography that most artists embrace at one point or another. It has that appeal that not many can resist. Nudes have appeared since early on in all types of artistry: from paintings to statues all the way to photography, black & white, and now full color.
When people hear about ‘nude photography’, they immediately thing of nasty, ugly things such as pornography and the sorts, and many times with good reason. Sadly pornography has tainted everything and while in the early years painting or sculpting a nude was an art form, now it’s considered tacky and distorted sexy. Yet, nude photos can be taken in a very pleasant, artistic and tasteful way without touching on the dark side. The secret is to remove the sex from it. When the naked model is trying to be sexy, the photo automatically becomes cheap and dirty.
If a person is trying to be sexy while fully clothed, it works ok, as already proven by advertising. However trying to look sexy while naked, it automatically sends the viewers a very precise message, whereby everything else is forgotten but the ‘sex’. But how to accomplish that which is apparently so difficult to achieve?
One way is to have the model look away from the camera. Have her gaze far away, as if thinking of something past, or recollecting a personal memory. This shows that the model has a soul, has feelings and is not simply a sex toy. The main ideas is for the model to express an emotion other than sexy for the viewers. Have her look dreamy or lost in thoughts, tranced, far away.
If you frame the picture without her face showing, the nude photograph will be an abstract rather than a person without clothes. Alternatively she can turn her head so that her face is not visible.
Lighting is another important part of taking out the sex from a nude photo. If you’ve noticed in porn movies and pictures, there is always a strong and bright background lighting. Having too much light has nothing to do with artistry, with conveying a true atmosphere. This is why you need plenty of shadows, which means that the model should have light pointed to her side or behind her. This creates a sense of mystical that leaves lots to the imagination and the mind.
By only having proper lighting and the model not look directly at the camera you will achieve the perfect artistic look that will not bring the mind automatically to pornography, but rather to a beautiful piece of photography.
You can take some great nude photos with any inexpensive digital camera as long as you know what to look for when buying a new one. Visit my website at http://www.inexpensivedigitalcamera.org/ to learn more about them.
If you are serious about your digital photography, sooner or later you will consider purchasing a digital SLR.
SLR stands for single lens reflex, which refers to the reflection of the mirror which allows you to see through the lens while composing your picture.
Visit Hotconcept! One of the biggest reasons photographers choose a SLR, is the ability to use different lenses. One can choose from wide angle, zoom, portrait, macro and many other types of specialty lens. This of course means more creative photography and more interesting photos.
The digital SLR also offers more creative control than point and shoot cameras, although point and shoot cameras as of late are adding more SLR like controls. In general a digital SLR is usually faster and more responsive than a point and shoot. This combination of responsiveness, elaborate control over the capture, and the ability to change lens, makes the digital SLR a perfect choice for more creativity.
A digital SLR is usually at the top of the ladder in resolution and offers many settings and options. Most of these cameras offer a “raw” mode. This has been likened to a digital negative. Instead of the cameras software automatically adjusting the white balance, the saturation and sharpness of the image, the photographer makes all these adjustments. The sensors of digital SLR’s are generally more advanced. Some camera manufacturers use a CMOS sensor which gives greater dynamic range. Full frame sensors are available that are equal to a full frame of 35mm film.
The digital SLR usually has greater control over the aperture and shutter. They offer very fast shutter speeds and continuous shooting as well as a bulb setting which lets the photographer hold the aperture open until he releases the shutter.
The digital SLR is not for everyone though. It is usually much heavier and bulkier than a point and shoot. It can become very tiring after carrying it around for awhile. It cannot be tucked into a shirt pocket. In fact, if you are using different lens and attachments, you will probably need a fairly large case to carry your equipment.
Because of the higher resolution and raw formats (if you choose raw), the size of your images is much larger. This means you will need more portable memory, and later when downloading to your computer, much more hard drive space.
Another possible disadvantage for some is that a digital slr usually does not offer a movie mode. If you take a lot of movies with your digital camera, you may be disappointed that the SLR does not offer a movie mode.
Most SLR’s require that you view through the viewfinder instead of the lcd monitor. Newer model SLR’s do offer a “live view” option that does allow you to compose using the lcd.
A digital SLR is the choice for creative control and quality. If you want to take more impressive photos, you wil eventually want a digital SLR. In the end however it is the skill and creativity of the photographer that is most important.

Any picture with or coming from our loved ones serves as great reminders of all the wonderful and tough memories we have shared with them. These pictures can be part of our source of strength because our loved ones are in it. People very close in our hearts can also be an extension of our families. Because they have shared a lot of memories, they will be forever cherished for the rest of our lives.
Posing for a family picture can be a great way for showing harmony between siblings, children, and parents. By posing in a picture, each subject will be able to tell stories and that what makes it altogether attractive and fun to look at. When planning for a professional photo shoot with your loved ones, it helps to experiment on different kinds of poses to show the character of your relationships.
Smaller families can have their shot taken as they walk together hand in hand with the children between the parents. For parents with a little baby, love can be presented when both parents hold the baby with a blanket. Another great shot can be taken during the early morning just as the sun is about to rise. Usually, this task requires great timing and a good photographer who would be willing to meet such demand. Both sunrise and sunset can create a warm feeling of heartfelt love between the parents and their children. Small families are easier to organize since there can be less children to deal with. But even if they come in small numbers, it is still important that each member cooperates well and should be able to follow helpful instructions patiently given by photographers.
Bigger families are quite a big challenge because of their numbers. However, if they listen and take instructions very well, this should not be a big trouble at all. It can run as smoothly as any kind of organized photo shoot. Taking pictures of bigger families can be really fun because they can do more by playing and chatting with each other. Shots are best taken when the entire family is completely having so much fun. The special bond between the members would be so hard to deny when they are seen as happy and free.
Photographs are not just intended to make people look great in it. In its truest essence, a great photograph should project the real characteristics of a person or group of people. It’s a symbol of love and friendship among the members of different families. The Austin Family Photographer is all about providing families with high quality photographs from which the entire members will eternally cherish. When I set up this photo shoot it was going to be only one woman who wanted some head shots for her portfolio. What it ended up being was two good friends and a photographer having a blast while taking fun photos on the corner of 6th and 6th in New Westminster!
When choosing the location for this shoot I wanted to have a variety of textures included in the frame, as well as have it close to were the model and I both lived so that neither of us had to travel to far. When the model showed up at our designated meeting spot I was surprised to see she had a friend with her. The Photo shoot I had done before this one the model had brought along some friends and it did not go very well so I was not sure what to expect.
After all the formalities we headed off to get started, as I was setting up I was very pleasantly surprised at how keen and helpful the models friend was. Both women were chatting away which helped me to learn more about each of them and once we were taking photos the friend turned out to be a huge asset. This unexpected guest on our photo shoot helped to direct and inspire both myself and the model, we were all having a great time.
It did not take long before I invited this woman to be in the photos with the original model to satisfy her urge to be photographed by a professional. Of course it was much more difficult for her to give direction when she was in front of the camera and the pressure was on. Both of the women did a fantastic job of taking direction and working on their modeling skills.
We were all having such a great time that we went over our allotted time by an hour or more and I used all the card space I had available and I ran out of battery power. I will never forget how good it felt to connect so deeply and honestly with someone I was photographing. Both Women were extremely happy with their photos and I would be more than happy to work with either if them again in the future.

A lot of people now own digital cameras, but only a few knows exactly how to use its features. We have to admit that the digital age is finally here and it’s definitely offered people a new world where they can take beautiful and sharper images more than ever. However, technology can only provide that much. No matter how good the digital cameras can get, only good professional photographers know how to completely make use of them.
Every good picture can tell stories. But to be able to capture the real heart of each moment at a snap of a camera will need one great photograph. Though we have photoshop and other editing software at our disposal, still a picture has to provide good quality image to get the right and desired outcome. Hiring professional photographers are good investments when you want to create lasting memories through great photographs.
Real professional photographers are always passionate for their work. Through a lens, they can make everything look amazing because they simply have great visions. They are gifted with a good eye for everything that is good and bad. They can make a statement and create huge impact to the general public.
Another thing that professional photographers have is the skill. Whether they were formally trained or self-taught, these photographers have somehow harnessed both basic and advanced technical skills that set them apart from the rest. Like previously mentioned, though different editing software gave us the freedom to manipulate and retouch photos, a raw picture that barely needs editing can greatly define just how good and passionate a photographer is.
A digital or any kind of camera is no substitute for an eye just like a film is no substitute for memory. In fact, both don’t work that way at all. A photograph that is described as nice is way different from a stunning photograph taken by good photographers. Cameras are just tools that are manipulated by professional photographers to make stunning and breath -taking photographs. And with each beautifully captured photo, has memories locked into it.
For all kinds of occasions, hiring the Photography Austin can make a huge difference into the success of the celebration. A group of professional photographers will be available for you to choose from. Photography is one of the best art form that is only delivered flawlessly by trained masters in the field such as the passionate photographers of Photography Austin.
