5 Easy Tips to Taking a Better Picture
It’s no secret that most people get nervous when having their picture taken. Here are a few tricks that will make your photos look more like the pros.
1. Don’t have the person stand alone in the photo. Have something for the person in the picture to do, like leaning against a tree. It will take the focus off of the person and make them more comfortable which gives you a better shot of them.
2. Tilt the person’s shoulders slightly away from the camera with the head towards the camera. This will reveal a better profile. This goes for the knees as well. Believe it or not, having the person’s knee’s pointing to the side will give them a more complimentary profile.
3. The dreaded double chin syndrome can be avoided if you take the picture from a higher position and have the person look up at you or you can have the person lean forward slightly. This can save you lots of embarrassment.
4. When taking a group shot, you want to have as little space as possible between people’s faces. This is why you always see the pro’s moving people all the time when lining up a photo. They are trying to eliminate space. It make the picture more balanced and places the right amount of emphasis on each person.
5. Pay close attention to body language. Keep arms and hands close to the body. Having the arms or legs away from the body expresses a different type of body language, usually aggressive or unhappy (like hands on hips). Stay away from that unless it is what you’re going for.
I hope you found these useful. With a little practice you are well on your way to taking better photos of people. I wish you the best of luck!
