Two Friends In New Westminster

Posted by admin in learning photography blog

When I set up this photo shoot it was going to be only one woman who wanted some head shots for her portfolio. What it ended up being was two good friends and a photographer having a blast while taking fun photos on the corner of 6th and 6th in New Westminster!

When choosing the location for this shoot I wanted to have a variety of textures included in the frame, as well as have it close to were the model and I both lived so that neither of us had to travel to far. When the model showed up at our designated meeting spot I was surprised to see she had a friend with her. The Photo shoot I had done before this one the model had brought along some friends and it did not go very well so I was not sure what to expect.

After all the formalities we headed off to get started, as I was setting up I was very pleasantly surprised at how keen and helpful the models friend was. Both women were chatting away which helped me to learn more about each of them and once we were taking photos the friend turned out to be a huge asset. This unexpected guest on our photo shoot helped to direct and inspire both myself and the model, we were all having a great time.

It did not take long before I invited this woman to be in the photos with the original model to satisfy her urge to be photographed by a professional. Of course it was much more difficult for her to give direction when she was in front of the camera and the pressure was on. Both of the women did a fantastic job of taking direction and working on their modeling skills.

We were all having such a great time that we went over our allotted time by an hour or more and I used all the card space I had available and I ran out of battery power. I will never forget how good it felt to connect so deeply and honestly with someone I was photographing. Both Women were extremely happy with their photos and I would be more than happy to work with either if them again in the future.

Lock Memories with Stunning Photographs

Posted by admin in learning photography blog

A lot of people now own digital cameras, but only a few knows exactly how to use its features. We have to admit that the digital age is finally here and it’s definitely offered people a new world where they can take beautiful and sharper images more than ever. However, technology can only provide that much. No matter how good the digital cameras can get, only good professional photographers know how to completely make use of them.
Every good picture can tell stories. But to be able to capture the real heart of each moment at a snap of a camera will need one great photograph. Though we have photoshop and other editing software at our disposal, still a picture has to provide good quality image to get the right and desired outcome. Hiring professional photographers are good investments when you want to create lasting memories through great photographs.
Real professional photographers are always passionate for their work. Through a lens, they can make everything look amazing because they simply have great visions. They are gifted with a good eye for everything that is good and bad. They can make a statement and create huge impact to the general public.
Another thing that professional photographers have is the skill. Whether they were formally trained or self-taught, these photographers have somehow harnessed both basic and advanced technical skills that set them apart from the rest. Like previously mentioned, though different editing software gave us the freedom to manipulate and retouch photos, a raw picture that barely needs editing can greatly define just how good and passionate a photographer is.
A digital or any kind of camera is no substitute for an eye just like a film is no substitute for memory. In fact, both don’t work that way at all. A photograph that is described as nice is way different from a stunning photograph taken by good photographers. Cameras are just tools that are manipulated by professional photographers to make stunning and breath -taking photographs. And with each beautifully captured photo, has memories locked into it.
For all kinds of occasions, hiring the Photography Austin can make a huge difference into the success of the celebration. A group of professional photographers will be available for you to choose from. Photography is one of the best art form that is only delivered flawlessly by trained masters in the field such as the passionate photographers of Photography Austin.

Photography Marketing Magic: Trading Coffee For Clients

Posted by admin in learning photography blog

Something interesting happened the other day when my wife went to buy her morning cup of coffee… and it’s a perfect example of marketing “outside of the box.” (I hate the phrase but completely agree with the concept.)

Next to the register was a stack of business cards literally 8 inches tall. For a group of financial advisors here in town. My wife didn’t think anything of this, of course… so she gave her order to the barista, then rummaged through her pockets for her money.

But instead of asking for payment, the barista handed my wife one of the business cards and said, “Your coffee has been paid for today.”

My wife, pleasantly surprised, turned around to see a crowd of 10 or 12 people gathered around a group of three men. As it turns out, these three men were the financial advisors who were paying for everybody’s coffee that morning.

Their reward? A steady stream of people coming over to thank them, to get information about their financial services… and to set up appointments. And I guarantee that even the people who didn’t talk to them personally told their wives, husbands, or co-workers about the free coffee they got that morning.

So, was their effort worth it? Perhaps it’ll be hard to measure right away… but over the course of six months, or a year… there’s no telling how many new customers these three men earned just by “buying” a few hundred cups of coffee for people.

How does this relate to your photography business? Well, I think a similar approach could work for you… not necessarily at a coffee shop (although why not a coffee shop?), but maybe at a photography store. For instance, what if you “paid” $5 of every person’s purchase at the local camera store… then hung out at the store to talk to all the people who would undoubtedly come up and thank you.

The odds are pretty good that you would walk out of that store with a couple of new clients. Even if you got just one… your time and money would be well spent.

This bold approach isn’t for everybody, of course… but if you’re trying to get new clients (and you should be trying to get new clients), it’s definitely something to consider.

How To Take Better Pictures – Photography Tips

Posted by admin in learning photography blog

A little note before I start:
I purchased my first dSLR camera (Nikon D5000) about a year and a half ago. I never took photography classes when I started using this camera. I have a lot to learn and improve, but most of all, I think photography is a great outlet for creativity, and it doesn’t matter if you’re a “pro” or not, as long as you can produce images you’re happy with.

This little tutorial will help you get better results with any camera, using mostly your imagination and gumption and not necessarily the specs of your camera.

Tip #1
MONKEY SEE, MONKEY DO
The best tip I could ever give you would be to look at as many photos as you can. Or, to put it differently, I see photography similar to as learning a language. When you’re a kid and everyone around you speaks English, you will speak English. If you look at, for example, portrait photography long enough, your mind will get used to it. Surround yourself with pictures that inspire you, and you’ll gradually see how you speak the language faster than you thought…

Tip #2
TEST SHOTS
Take a moment before you take your picture. Take a test shot and see how you like it. If you’re not satisfied with it, you’d better know it now and not be upset later just when you prepared everything and it turned out too dark, or too bright, or too whatever…. Adjust your settings to your liking BEFORE you take your pictures. It’s vital when you’re in a hurry, too.
P.S – I figured you didn’t need an explanation about ISO, shutter speed and aperture, but if you want me to write about it, tell me.

Tip #3
THE MORE THE MERRIER or CLICK, CLICK, CLICK!
Don’t settle for just one picture. If you’re looking for a good result, make sure you have a variety of shots to choose from. Let’s say you have the object prepared, and now you’re about to take its picture. Move around to find nice angles. Take a number of pictures from the same angle, move the object a little… Make little changes. They might make a big difference later when you’re viewing them on the computer. By the way, the little LCD screen is (almost) always lying…

Tip #4
LIGHT
OK, this is more crucial than you think. Light is your best material. It can lift up an entire frame… Lighting is a huge topic on its own, which I know very little about. All I do know is that it can make your picture look wonderful or utterly awful. You will have to try on your own, like take some light sources and spread them around the room… or use natural light, of course. Try and see what’s working for you. Oh, and also – very important – angles! When you know you work with light, move around to see where it’s most flattering to your shot.

Tip #5
PHOTO EDITING
You don’t need to be a wizard. Just play around with any photo editing software, until you get closer to what you aim for. This is probably the worst tip, because I don’t have much to say about photo manipulation… It helps if you’re fond of that genre, but you can definitely get along just fine without it. And it leads me to another digital function you could use:

Tip #6
TAKE CONTROL
After you uploaded the images on your computer, just take a look at them for a while. I usually take a brief first glance at everything, and then I look at all the pictures again more attentively. Some pictures pop up more than others, and they are the ones I choose to work on.
After you chose a picture: CHANGE WHAT YOU DON’T LIKE. If there’s something bothering you in the pic, you can always cover it by CROPPING the picture. You can create new compositions that way… Just make sure you’re aware that the size’s going to change…

This was taken from a blog entry I wrote, with picture samples. Here is it:

3 Reasons Why You Need a Sony Hard Drive Camcorder

Posted by admin in learning photography blog

In acquiring something, you always need to know the main reason why you’ll buy it. Typically, we don’t acquire simply because we like it, or it’s cute, or it could be great for future use. We buy some thing simply because we need it!

If you know people love images and also videos, I quickly desire to offer you tips on how to purchase the proper gadget to record all those events. There are lots of devices sold in the market nonetheless, I won’t recommend a lot of them. I have been busy learning as well as reading regarding products reviews as to which is best. So now, allow me to give you 3 main reasons why buying a Sony hard drive camcorder is a good choice.

1.) First of all, its brand name has established the quality of products they develop. If you will check the internet for Sony camcorder product reviews, you may seldom read negative feedbacks. Customers are not merely satisfied, but this often exceeds their fulfillment.

Just like me, we purchased a Sony camcorder two years ago, and it helped me record every instances I have by using my family and friends. You know what, it is still functioning correctly today and i’m still using it perfectly.

2.) It has a huge hard drive up to 120 gb. One of many camcorder brands, it has the biggest hard drive. This means you have the capability to hold as much pictures, as much videos you desired. You are not limited with the size and its capacity.

3.) It is what most people buy. Social proof is often important. We don’t own something which other people don’t get, or at best don’t look. We always long for approval this is why we buy those products are well-known and also part of the trend. With regards to camcorders, people prefer Sony, which is the reason why I will recommend it to you. People won’t buy it if it doesn’t function well, or if it is defective in nature, right?

So knowing the people buy it is enough to say that it is the best among its competitors. Anyway, you can still check some product reviews to make sure that what I’m telling you now is not a biased opinion.

In case you wanted to buy cheap Sony camcorders, then I have a huge listing of both brand new and second hand camcorders at very cheap prices.

Hire the Best Wedding Photographer for Your Special Day

Posted by admin in learning photography blog

As you plan your wedding you run into millions of details that you never considered, including the wedding photographer. This is one day that you want to be perfectly recorded for history. There is no re-doing it if the photographer you hire makes a mistake. Even in the chaotic whirl of details that need to be taken care of you need to make time to meet personally with your photographer before your big day. You want to find the perfect professional for wedding pictures, one that will work with you to ensure that all the special people you have invited are photographed.

Try to find time to make out a list of questions before you meet with the prospective photographer for wedding celebrations. A true professional should be flexible in the packages they offer and take your desires into consideration. Wedding photographers in Michigan often have to contend with weather conditions as well if you are planning an outdoor wedding. Some churches do not allow photographers to take pictures indoors so you need to verify that the location where you would like your pictures to be taken is allowed.

A professional will want to meet with you and take bridal photographs before the day of the wedding. There are two benefits to this. You can use it as a dress rehearsal for the actual wedding, and you get a chance to see the style of work done by the photographer. This also give you a chance to discuss exactly which family members you want included in the photographs and whether you would also like a wedding album created by the professional you hire. Photographers in Michigan often offer this option for their clients.

Finding the perfect person for wedding pictures may seem like just one more detail in an already crazy schedule but you will be glad that you took the time. A good wedding photographer can capture that perfect day for you to look back on for the rest of your life. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words, and capturing the expressions of love and joy during your wedding is what photographers in Michigan do best. There can be nothing more heartbreaking than returning from your honeymoon to find that the professional you chose messed up and none of the pictures could be saved. Take a few extra minutes to find the very best wedding photographer for your very special day.
